Weekly Round Up - Saturday 27th June 2020
With things getting a bit busier here now that COVID restrictions have been replaced a bit, I thought a weekly round-up of what’s been happening here on the yard might be a good idea... I try and share as much as I can via social media day-to-day but you might miss something useful to you, and this is a solution for that!! NEW TACK ROOM DEVELOPMENTS So this is VERY exciting and I love that a project we’ve been planning for the last 6 months has, at last, started! Last Decembe
KA Kids - Pony TV for pony-mad Kids!
Our two little sprogs, Cora (8) and Callan (6), have featured in lots of our vlogs over the years but they have been keen to do some themselves and thus, KA Kids has been created! Cora and Callan want to share with you their journey with their ponies, some tips for other pony-mad kids as well as lots of fun on the yard. They’ve kicked off their vlog series with a little introduction to them and their ponies Bertie and Jasper ... if you have a keen young rider in your life, pe
A LOCKDOWN PROJECT - OUR NEW WASH BAY AND SOLARIUM!
We’ve been planning this new addition for, well, years but it was put into our improvement plan for 2020 at the start of the year and lockdown made it possible - every cloud! This space, on the right hand side of the yard as you come in the sliding doors, for those of you who have been on the yard, used to be our feed and general storage room but a little re-jig allowed us to clear the space and install an electric shower unit, attach an extra-long hose, a couple of tie-up po
Introducing Pullman Brown
This beautiful boy joined us at the end of April following his retirement from racing with Phil Kirby down in Yorkshire. He’s an 8 year old, thoroughbred gelding by Big Brown, bred in the USA before coming to the UK via Ireland to run both on the flat and over hurdles. He perhaps wasn’t the most successful racehorse but what a lovely horse he is - obviously gorgeous but incredibly sweet and respectful, very keen to work and a beautiful mover. When he arrived, I’d just broken
Another New Member of the Family!
This little cutie is Cora’s new pony Jasper! Jasper is a 9 year old Shetland x Welsh gelding and he’s such a cheeky-choppy! Cora is just taking her time getting used to him and re-building her confidence after a bit of time out of the saddle and a wee fright she’d had on another pony. So far, we’re just on the lead-rein and we’ve discovered he’s a little nappy when on his own in the arena. To me it looks a lot like a bit of separation anxiety so I’m doing a little ground wor
A Tentative Public Re-Opening!
Gosh, it’s been a while since we posted! Obviously a LOT has happened of late and with COVID causing all sorts of chaos, you’ll forgive us for our Blog silence. That said, we’ve been a busy bunch and Lockdown has provided us with a bit of space and time to get on with a few jobs that we’ve struggled to find the time to complete up until now (I’ll tell you a bit more about them in another post). However, what I did want to hop on and announce was that, in line with Scottish Go
